School for the Blind

Netraheen Vikas Sansthan (Blind School Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India) is working for rehabilitation of blind students for 31 years in Suncity Jodhpur by providing free education with room and board facility separately for boys and girls. The school was started on 15 August 1977, with only two blind students, whose numbers rose to 247 today, of which 90 are girls.This is the only institute for girls with hostel facility in Rajasthan. The school is up to higher secondary level for blind. All the teachers many of whom are even blind also are well trained and highly qualified. The result 10 and 12 examinations of the Board has always maintained at 100% since the beginning of the school. The school students were honored on several occasions medals and awards not only at national, state and district level but also internationally in various fields of education, sports and music.

Development Society of the Blind
The human body is very important and valuable in life. The eyes are the most precious among different organs. One has to face in numerable difficulties in the absence of eyes. Imagine the life you have to live without seeing the beauty of the rising sun, deprived of the enjoyment of observing the beauty of flowering plants and even can not see the face of his mother. Here one can truly realize Rajasthan proverb "The user knows where the shoe pinches." It is well said that there could be relatives and friends of a person to bind your eyes unless it developed intellectual otherwise, in the absence of it has to be totally dependent for every routine work of others. Though proper training provided t the blind can not of course provide the eye, but can make them self-reliant and self dependent. Realizing the plight painful for the blind This Sansthan (Society) began with 2 children on 15 August 1977 in this historic Suncity, Jodhpur. It has its own constitution and also anyone helps society to enjoy exemption from income tax in 80-G.
ACTIVITIES

Vocational Training
Under the regime of "Learn and Earn" different efficient artisans are employed to train students in weaving bed sheets, towels, etc. Also Niwar chairs are trained in canning, and sewing to make different calls and foot mats, candle making, etc. To encourage students are paid a fee. The efficiency when achieved in a particular field naturally gives them the guarantee of self-employment.

Training in Vocal & Instrumental Music
Music trained teachers are appointed to provide training for different musical instruments as the harmonium, tabla, dholak, Flute, Bango, Guitar, Casio, Octopad, etc body and vocal music. Students after training of our institution have appeared for different certificate courses.

Planning for self reliance
For the first time in the India, this institution started a special plan to support itself under which a provision to provide National Savings Certificate of value Rs 5000 / – (five thousand) for each of their students so that upon completing his education, he / she may begin with the value at maturity, can own a business or pursue studies higher.

Mini Braille Press
Sansthan has established a computerized mini Braille Press imported from Sweden to the Braille books Braille and articles can be produced in a short period of time.

Computer Training
Sansthan has established a modern laboratory computer with the help of NRI. From 6 to 12 students are learning standard equipment by the computer teacher and also taking three months of special training in the team organized by the Polytechnic University, Jodhpur.

Physical Education
The different physical exercise, Dumble, Laizium, weight lifting, running, cricket, the slide area shooting, disk, Kabbadi, Kho-kho, etc, sports and games are provided to students to keep physically fit. Some of the guys have won awards at regional, national and international levels. Internationally, five prizes have been won by our students in the Pan American Games tournament in Boston (USA).

Culture Program
Occasions like Independence Day, Republic Day, Day of Disabled welfare week, Gandhi Jayanti, Birth Braille Loullic held with thorough preparation and enthusiasm in the art and level cultural blind students are sometimes so high that even the viewers are surprised to see the level of art. They also participate in cultural competitions held in state and national level s of obtaining greater efficiency and self confidence.

Awards
The state government received the best service institution the year 2007 by Honorable Dr Pratibha Patil, the Government of Rajasthan, our teacher Mrs. Salma ad Antonio awarded as best national teacher in 2004 by the President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

About the founder
Mrs. Sushila Bohra is a renowned social worker provide valuable services to many social, educational and religious institutions. She is Founding President of Netraheen Vikas Sansthan (a school for Blinds), Bal Shobha Sansthan (An Orphanage home), Samgra Vikas Sansthan (A khadhi Institute), President of Gandhi Peace Foundation Center, Founder Honorary Secretary of "Sambal" (an institute for self employment of women), managing director of Parasmal Sushila Bohra Charitable Trust, Executive Member of the School of Deaf and dumb, Navjeewan Sansthan (A Home indigent) and Jodhpur Nagrik Society "Jodhana. She is a member Honorary remained of the Rotary Club of Jodhpur and Joint Secretary of Mahaveer International.

In the field of education has remained Founding President Mahila Shikshan Vihar, Jalore (adult female literacy), working as Vice President of Jodhpur Adult Education Center. She has been an executive member of Lok Jumbish Parishad, Jaipur, Jodhpur Adult Education Society and literacy in society. He has also kept the Senate of the University of Jodhpur, in the year 1981-84. Has been devoted in the field of religion also give their services as Coordinator of India all Swadhyaya Sangh, Jodhpur. She has also remained Director, All India Shravika Ratna Jain Sangh, President Anuvrat Shikshan Sansad, Vice President of All India Hiteshi shravaka Jain Sangh etc. Currently, she is also serving as President of Samyag Gyan Pracharak Mandal, Jaipur also. She has been privileged to become the first women as office bearer of the Vice President of prestigiopus 100 years ancient institution of Jain community "Oswal Singh Sabha" of Jodhpur in 2003.

Our Mission
We are physical work for children and youth with disabilities. We want to make more facilities for people with disabilities and who require more subscribe for handling all the requirements for this. We need your support in such cases as the service manual.

REQUEST FOR DONATION
We are currently taking
247 children with us and many more blind children need proper care and education. But we can not admit that because of the shortage of school accommodation hostel, additional pitch, more teachers and aides, the study of materials and furniture, etc. that receives financial assistance from the state Govt. not enough to cover costs of this institute. The respected donors are the only hope for us. So in this regard please contribute generously with pleasant feeling and heart glad.
